(McMinnville, OR) - The McMinnville Economic Development Partnership (MEDP) announced the MEDP 2011 Awards at the McMinnville Area of Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner on November 18, 2011.
2011 MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR
Northwest UAV Propulsion Systems
Manufacturer of the Year recognizes the outstanding manufacturing company that has contributed to the growth of our local economy through workforce development, best practices and a positive company outlook.
Northwest Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Propulsion Systems recently announced a major expansion this fall with the purchase of a 28,000 square foot facility on 10 acres in McMinnville, Oregon.
NW UAV, which has been in business since 2005, currently employs nearly 60 people in development, engineering, marketing, production, and sales and plans to add 6 more positions in the coming months.
NW UAV is one of the largest Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Propulsion System manufacturers in the United States. They design and build cutting edge UAV engines, control systems and support products.
NW UAV has a spectacular history of innovation and we are thrilled to see what the future holds for this power-house company. This new facility will give NWUAV room to spread its wings and take advantage of strategic growth opportunities.

Manufacturing Leader of the Year recognizes the outstanding leader in the manufacturing sector who has contributed to the growth of our local economy through workforce development, best practices and community involvement.
The board recognized Dave for his leadership and support of his team’s work with the High Performance companies in McMinnville, his commitment to workforce training, and his humble, but driven approach to continuous improvement.
Dave is a founding member of the High Performance Consortium Steering Committee and a valued peer to peer mentor.
As one High Performance Consortium member put it “Dave is a thoughtful leader who listens and really hears what everyone has to say, and when he does speak, he is spot on and tuned in to the key concerns.”

Fiber Expansion Project Partnership
The Outstanding Partner award is not given annually, but rather when the board deems appropriate. This award recognizes the outstanding partner who has contributed to the growth of our local economy through workforce development, strategic insight and thoughtful advocacy.
The Fiber Expansion partnership is being led by Online NW/Pacific Wave Communications, joined by McMinnville Water & Light, the City of McMinnville and McMinnville Industrial Promotions.
Local public and private partners came together to fund a full service fiber optic communication system expansion into the McMinnville Industrial Park located between Riverside Drive and Lafayette Avenue. This allows us to meet the most demanding communications needs of our existing and future businesses.
It is truly a testament to our business community when a number of partners can come together to make a complex and multi-layered project like this happen.
