Parks and Recreation

The Parks and Recreation Department sponsors year-round programs, classes and events for children and adults.

Discovery Meadows Many of these activities occur at the Aquatic Center, Community Center and the Senior Center. Seasonal brochures are mailed to McMinnville residents three times per year, may be picked up at any Parks and Recreation facility, or viewed online.

The city has dedicated more than 320 acres of land to parks, 240 of which is developed and includes such amenities as picnic pavilions, tennis courts, skateparks, softball/baseball fields, soccer fields, a rock climbing wall, hiking trails and play structures. Aquatic Center • 138 NW Park Drive

The mission of the McMinnville Aquatic Center is to meet the recreational needs and interests of a diverse community by offering a wide variety of aquatic classes and fitness opportunities at a reasonable cost. The Aquatic Center also has a full weight room, featuring exercise and weight training equipment.

The 25-yard long competition pool features diving boards, a basketball hoop and steps into the pool for those that are "ladder-challenged.” The temperature is set at 82-83 degrees. The smaller 20-yard recreation pool also has a basketball hoop, a slide, steps for smaller children, and a lift for handicap accessibility. The pool depth ranges from 3'3" - 5'0", and is set at 86-87 degrees.

Community Center • 600 NE Evans Street

Community CenterSince its opening in 1981 as "The People Place," the McMinnville Community Center has been offering services to both public and private groups. The center currently serves more than 200,000 program and event participants annually.

The center features various meeting rooms with seating capacities ranging from 30 to 200 people as well as an auditorium seating from 500 to 800.

Athletic facilities are available to residents and non-residents through the purchase of memberships or by paying a daily drop-in fee. The facilities include racquetball/handball, indoor resilient jogging track, basketball and volleyball, and locker rooms. McMinnville Senior Center • 2250 McDaniel Lane

As a part of the comprehensive community system to meet older adults' needs, the McMinnville Senior Center offers services and activities and links participants with resources offered by other agencies. The Senior Center is a community resource, providing information on aging, supporting family caregivers, training professional and lay leaders and students, and developing innovative approaches to addressing aging issues.
